Over the last 12 months GeoSmart has been developing a Real Time Traffic solution covering all of New Zealand on behalf of its parent company the New Zealand Automobile Association.

AA Traffic combines input from a wide range of services including NZ Police, New Zealand Transit Authority, Local Government, Fleet Management and many more, and outputs it to a wide variety of services including  websites such as AA Maps and AA Roadwatch , email and SMS alerts, XML services and also broadcast to car navigation devices such as Navman, which can alert drivers and offer them an alternate route around an incident before they get stuck in the traffic jam.

The AA Traffic page allows  people to register for services including a commuter service, area alerts and a service forlong weekend getaways. The site also allows people to check domestic and international flight arrivals and departures for Auckland and Christchurch airports as well as the real time schedules for the 2 Cook Straight ferry companies.

The Email Alerts are available for free to all AA Members until the end of 2009 and SMS Alerts are available free of charge to Telecom Mobile subscribers of both the CDMA and the new XT networks.
