Location Innovation Awards and Extended Blog

05 December 2008 12:00 pm

The Location Innovation Awards are going very well with 29 entries already. There is plenty of time to get your entry in and you will find details on the Awards website

We have a new blog where we can put much more detail and where you can find information about GeoSmart and our activities, but also lots of information about things that are going on in the industry worldwide that have relevance to what we are doing. Today's blog talks about 2 cool games from The Saints in the Netherlands. Navball is a soccer game played by 22 players on real streets in the city, chasing and kicking virtual balls into virtual goals, with a scoreboard and the ability to monitor the game and all the participants on a web map mashup.

Another cool game is Get Lost in Rotterdam, which is like a treasure hunt in combination with a game you may have played with your children when petrol was cheaper, randomly turning into streets with no idea where you are going. In this case it is on foot and public transport, so serves sustainability as well as entertainment and exercise. These are great ideas of applications that could be developed as an entry into the GeoSmart Location Innovation Awards.
