Tourism
The nature of tourism has changed. The web is now probably the single most important tool that people use for travel planning, especially for pleasure. It is very difficult to plan a trip and visualise where you are going without maps on your Internet site and also in your Intranet (your internal planning tools).
Traditional text based web sites no longer deliver
Being more mobile, people want to see and experience as much as possible. The traditional text and form based search on tourism web sites do not provide the level of information that people need when planning their trips. If they can visualise their plans and see what else they can do or where they can stay when they plan their itineraries, they will have a much more satisfying experience. People will choose to visit web sites that have a mapping element to the experience.
Location based services can impact on many areas of tourism.
Web Mapping is fundamental and the GeoCode Tool makes it easy for your developer to add maps to your site, whether it is a large portal, or a small site promoting your small motel or activity.
Map Directions and Routing will help people find their way around and plan their itineraries.
Mobile and PDA devices today help people take the maps with them wherever they go, especially if they don’t also have Car Navigation and Fleet Management systems can help operators keep track of tour buses, campervans and rental cars.
Invite²GO is a great tool for tourism operators to confirm reservations and bookings, reduce misunderstandings over times and dates and to make it very easy for people to find their way to their destination.
Route²GO is an excellent tool for use on portals, but also for Travel Agents to plan effective itineraries allowing people to really make the best use of the time available.
For another perspective, ask us about our Aerial Photography. We may just have a great shot to compliment your presentation. Of course we also have Historical Photos in the White’s Aviation Library.
Custom Street Maps are often developed using mapping data we provide. For example one of our clients has created maps of areas such as Queenstown for Japanese tourists. We provide them in a form that allows them to replace our labels with Japanese Kanji characters.
