There are many forms of communities. One of the most vital is the one you live in. Portals are being established around the country to let people know what resources are available and how they can interact with their local community. GeoSmart is proud to play a part in facilitating these communities.
Now it is possible to visualise what you can do locally, whether that be where to find businesses, clubs and interest groups, local places of interest, local entertainment and events or help and support agencies. Web maps add a dynamic new dimension into this concept because people can locate themselves on a map and see what is around them and how to get to those places.
Many portals are being developed to enable like minded people to find each other. This might be for people who participate in specific sports, cultural clubs, entertainment, as well as travel and tourism sites.
