Markets
GeoSmart has provided products and solutions for the traditional GIS industry for many years, typically local government, regional government and central government departments such as health, education, conservation, environment, transit and transport. We have also supported major organisations such as transport providers, major corporations with their own GIS departments in a wide range of business sectors.
Today, with the advent of the Internet, car navigation, handheld and portable computers, mobile phones, Smartphones and the demands of a much more mobile and technologically savvy community, we are offering products and solutions to a much wider range of markets.
You no longer have to have big budgets, highly skilled graduates and expensive workstations to benefit from this technology. Our technologies are now accessible to the most basic entry level mobile phones and anyone with an industry standard web browser or email application.
Some of the markets we support include:
- Communities. Portals and web sites that help people find anything that exists on a permanent or temporary basis. This might be community locations such as halls, parks, clubs, public concerts and events though to services such as info centres, Citizens Advice, libraries etc.
- Event Management. Most events will have a prime location, but perhaps many associated locations, sponsors, accommodation, activities and more. People need to be able to find their way around the locations involved from anywhere in New Zealand.
- Forestry. We have a wide range of solutions for this industry including tree counting, genus typing, stem profiling and much more. The real situation of forest assets may be very different to their status on paper. We can help gather and present that information on land and from the air.
- Hospitality and Food & Beverage are huge industries and consumers are spoiled for choice. We help smart clients get a larger share of the market.
- Marketing and Business Planning is a segment that has traditionally been based around spreadsheets and tables. We now have powerful tools that can allow decisions based on visual presentation of the spreadsheet data. Work smarter rather than harder.
- Mobile and PDA devices mean that solutions can be developed for people to use A³. That means Anytime, Any Place, Any Device and it is no longer just jargon. This opens up exciting opportunities to extend web solutions to personal devices as well as many new opportunities such as location based marketing, games and communities.
- Real Estate is an industry where maps will now become a standard requirement. Maps are not all equal and we have many exciting tools that allow companies with vision to provide tools that will sell more property more quickly, but also support other functions such as Property Management and Service.
- Retail. They say the 3 most important things about retail are location, location, location. This remains true, but with increased mobility, people will venture further, so they need help to find you or your product.
- Security and Tracking. We support a wide range of solutions from conventional Fleet Management through to local solutions with RFID and the latest in communication technologies. Mapping tools are available for inside buildings and complexes through to the whole of New Zealand.
- Service. This industry is grappling with increased customer demand for quality and cheaper prices, but also increased fuel costs, traffic congestion and complex logistics. GeoSmart can help.
- Tourism. Whether it is Free Independent Travellers or organised tours, we have solutions available. We support large portals, tiny businesses such as a single motel across platforms from mobile phones through to web sites and car navigation systems.
- Town Planning. We provide information for the most complex of GIS solutions through to easy to use web mapping systems. We support government, property developers, surveyors and more. We have historic and very current information covering all of New Zealand.
- Travel. We have been there. We have driven in excess of 94,000km of public roads in New Zealand. We have flown all over New Zealand collecting aerial photography including full contours. We have mapped national parks, forests and reserves and much more. We have databases ranging from hotels to public toilets, rivers, beaches, boat ramps, historical and cultural points of interest and much more.
- Web Portals. We have a wide range of API’s that can bring your web portal to life. Help people find whatever it is they are looking for from a location perspective. Show them how to get there and anything else that is relevant. Compliment your database with proximity information and a spatial view.
- Freight and Distribution. It used to be easy, or at least people were more patient and not in a hurry. Plan, monitor, report and act based on spatial information. We will be there with you.
